How did we get here today?
This year’s Planning School sheds light on the city’s last fifty years of urban development. How did we get to where we are today, and what do we owe these various eras? Each week, we’ll explore a decade - its policies, its battles, its formative projects - from the mouths of those who know them best.

Sam Jacob is a leading figure in the architecture and design industries. He was a founding director of FAT Architecture where he was responsible for a range of internationally acclaimed and award winning projects. Sam is Professor of Architecture at UIC, Chicago, Director of Night School at the Architectural Association in London and Visiting Professor at Yale School of Architecture. He is a columnist for Dezeen and Art Review, and contributing editor to Icon.
