There are three levels of creativity and we seem to be stuck on the first level: reacting to problems by deriving solutions from what we know. In other art forms, we can see the difference taking creativity up a notch can make. The second level of creativity is merging two different ideas, such as jazz and rock to form jazz fusion in the 1960s, and later, jazz rap in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

A great example of the third level of creativity came in the first decade of the twentieth century. Following the incremental shifts through impressionism, expressionism and so on, Picasso, Braque and Duchamp blew apart our perception of the world to create Cubism.

Great ideas are often born during times of crisis; we need to rethink the future of living, working and playing in this new world. The spaces we inhabit should be reinvented on every level, rather than define our behaviour, an environment should be a framework for different physical states and corresponding mental states.

Yorgo Lykouria explores the spaces we inhabit that should be reinvented on every level, rather than define our behaviour.

Yorgo Lykouria established an award-winning practice Rainlight Studio spanning architecture, Filmmaking, interiors and product design. By interlacing diverse fields of creative thinking, Lykouria employs a multidisciplinary toolkit that manifests a unique perspective in every application. Founding Rainlight in 2018, the studio earned an international reputation for strategic innovation, putting its work at the forefront of design. Launching his independent London practice in 2002, with design works represented by manufacturers such as Tecno, Scavolini, Allsteel, Dornbracht, Ferrari, Montblanc, Okamura, Vitra and Zumtobel, he continues with the quest to break new ground and make the world a better place for humans and habitat.

“Lykouria, reintroduces moments of conscious reflection, pleasure and awe into everyday life, turning the prosaic into poetry.” Simon Cowell, Architectonic
