Every Londoner wants to live in an attractive, secure environment, where fit-for-purpose homes gel with their surroundings.

The government says it wants to restore beauty and quality to our neighbourhoods, but what will this take to happen? Will planning reform bring this about? What actually is ‘beauty’? And will the prime minister’s calls to ‘level up’ amount to anything more than a political slogan?

At this special London Society event, Nicholas Boys Smith, chair of the government’s Office for Place, will be in conversation with the Financial Times’ Helen Barrett, discussing a range of subjects from planning, urban beauty and the impact of architectural style wars, to what Michael Gove’s arrival at the re-badged Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities means for the capital.

NB: This will be an 'in person' event, we will not be streaming or recording this event.
