Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour and talk at Cockpit Arts in Deptford, which now has a Craft Garden, Café and Education space.
Come and hear the experts talk about the new designs. “This project is all about opening up Cockpit to the local community for the first time,” says Francis Fawcett, director at Cooke Fawcett Architects. “The design aspires to create a spatial and material experience for visitors which echoes that of the makers using the building.”
The new craft garden is the work of Sebastian Cox, designer and environmentalist. His furniture pieces crafted from oak and sweet chestnut are embedded into a textured landscape which emulates Deptford’s Creekside flora.
Emphasising sustainability and future-proofing, the redevelopment of Cockpit Arts incorporates MVHR ventilation, an air-source heat pump in the new wood studios, and passive ventilation throughout to meet energy targets of today and the future.
Oliver Cooke from Cooke Fawcett Architects will lead this fascinating tour of the building, which is home to 160 independent creative businesses in London.
