Come and hear architect Liam Hennessy's proposals to transform Park Lane from a 10 lane highway to a fine boulevard, humanising what is currently a noisy, polluted urban motorway.

What we now call Park Lane is made up of two distinct parts: East Carriage Drive, originally for horses and carriages, closest to Hyde Park; and Park Lane, as the name suggests, originally a lane, closest to Mayfair.

The proposed boulevard would have both north and southbound traffic running side by side in East Carriage Drive, which is a very wide and expansive avenue.

The space currently occupied by the southbound traffic, closest to Mayfair, would be cleared of all motor traffic to become a very extensive pedestrian boulevard. This space is extensive enough to also be able to accommodate a cycle superhighway, if that is desired.
