Despite its difficult, often challenging past, Brixton is fast becoming a place of change, opportunities and celebration. Find out why with Blue Badge Guide, Angela Morgan as she leads this fascinating tour of one London's most multi-cultural communities.

Experience the vibrant and exciting multi-cultural atmosphere of Brixton. This walking tour will offer glimpses of the past - why did this area become the beacon for the Caribbean community? Stand on the infamous frontline and hear of the events that rocked a nation in 1981; which world-famous artist lived in the housing estate often mistaken for Brixton prison? Who placed Brixton top of his places to visit in London?

The present - visit the popular covered markets and the street that was made famous in a top ten hit song (singing is optional on this tour!); see the world-famous mural of the late David Bowie.

The future –the established communities in and around Brixton are concerned about the pace of gentrification and the loss of cultural identity – observe and decide for yourself.

The tour will end on Windrush Square, close to the Black Cultural Archives.
