How We Work is back for 2020!
Join the Society and some of the capital's leading architectural studio's for a 'behind the scenes' look at the studio’s history, current and future projects.
Pollard Thomas Edwards was founded in 1974 by Roger Pollard, Bill Thomas and John Edwards.
From its start, PTE combined an unusual set of aims and attributes: a commitment to finding out what end users really want; a willingness to challenge orthodox post-war modernism; an enthusiasm for complex and messy redundant sites and buildings, and a belief that new buildings should be respectful to their surroundings.
All of these still inform the core values of the practice today, with its belief that good design, coupled with intelligent use of money and a commitment to social and environmental change, can make property development a force for good, a form of ‘visible mending’.
PTE’s studios at Diespeker Wharf provide a great working environment, a local landmark and a visible expression of the practice’s ethos. Along with neighbouring developments around City Road Basin (including PTE’s own property ventures), they show how restored historic buildings can combine with unashamedly contemporary development to stimulate economic, social and environmental regeneration.
Join PTE and the Society for this intimate evening as we discover how they have been designing and delivering homes, schools, workspace and entire neighbourhoods for Londoners for the past 45 years.
