The ideas behind the building and construction of housing for those of slender means has changed much since the days of philanthropists such as George Peabody, The Guinness Trust. This has continued into the early 20th century, with organisations such as the St Pancras House Improvement Society and Basil Jellicoe.

Join Blue Badge Guide Anne-Marie Craven as we visit Arnold Circus, an LCC estate built to rehouse around 5,100 people and completed in 1897. The Boundary Estate and other rehousing projects of this time were also created, the area characterised as a "painful and monotonous round of vice, filth, and poverty…bare and blackened rooms…" And a church if there is time!
